Announcements – December 6, 2017

  • Seniors, please remember to pay your dues of $60 to Ms. Manning in the chorus room. On Feb. 1 dues will go up to $70, so pay them now! 
  • Faculty & staff: celebrate the holiday season with the senior class by wearing your ugliest Christmas sweater on Friday, Dec. 15. 
  • Faculty, staff & students: please come out and support LHS JROTC at a drill competition on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 9:00am at Great Bridge High School.  It’s free of charge and there will be food for sale. LHS will compete a first year cadet only team, color guard team and inspection team.  The awards ceremony will be at 1:00 pm concluding the events. JROTC would appreciate your support! 
  • Seniors, your senior portraits for the yearbook are due by Friday, Dec. 8. See Ms. Sapp for the senior ads and portraits. 
  • The journalism class invites you to check out their brand new student blog. There will be student and teacher interviews, pictures of friends and your favorite teachers. A link to the blog will be posted on the school website. 
  • There will be boys tennis conditioning this Friday after school at the tennis courts from 3:15 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. please make sure you have a ride home. Questions talk to Coach Jay in room 209. 
  • Marketing is selling Lakeland water bottles. They are stainless steel travel mugs that you can get personalized. The price for the logo only cup is $15, to have it personalized is $16. Please see Mrs. Wiggins, room 230 or Ms. Noble, room 228 for more details. 
  • The National Honor Society is having a school-wide toy drive to collect toys for children at CHKD. Please show your Christmas spirit and donate toys for children ages 2 and up! All donations must be dropped off in Ms. Carroll’s room (105) by December 15.

  • Students: Please return your Federal Form to your English teacher. Your form must be turned by Friday, December 15, 2017. Remember, the class with the highest percentage of returned forms will win a pizza party.
  • Rho Kappa members going to Kilby Shores on December 13, 2017 need to get their permission slips in as soon as possible. Rho Kappa members interested in helping at the Kilby Shores Reading Night on December 14, 2017 should see Mrs. Meissel for more information or to sign up.
  • Do you want to learn to code? Ever wanted to know what it would be like to be a computer programmer? Come by the Library this week for an hour of coding. Cool activities are ready to teach you how to code like a professional. And while you’re there, grab a good book and a cup of hot chocolate….on the house.
  • Students who took the ASVAB may stop by the Testing Office to pick up scores.
  • Seniors – voting on Prom themes will take place on Wednesday, December 6 & Thursday, December 7, 2017 during all senior English classes.
  • Mrs. Badran would like to recognize Emily Owen as a great citizen for the month of December. Emily has spent the last year volunteering with the Suffolk Animal Care, a shelter for homeless animals. She is responsible in serving her community. Emily’s name will be entered into a prize drawing.
  • Track practice wil not be held today, December 6, 2017. Academic day – this is a good time to catch up on all missing work.
  • Seniors, Norfolk State University will be visiting on Friday, December 8 to conduct on-site admission from 11:44am -1:00pm. Please see Mrs. Williams for your transcript and SAT/ACT scores to submit.
  • Come out and support the choirs in our annual Winter Concert on December 14, 6:30pm.
