LHS Art Students add to Little Library program

IMG_20170511_134016072Lakeland High School’s Art III and Art IV students created a beautiful addition to the Suffolk Public Library’s “little library” program while earning community service hours at the same time. Students from The Pruden Center for Industry & Technology used their skills to build a little library house for the Lakeland art students to decorate. It took 26 hours for the art students to complete the project. The library runs by the “take a book, give a book” premise and will be installed at the Holland Farmer’s Market. For more information, contact the school at 925-5790.

Chase Lewis voted Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of The Week

playerChase Lewis was voted Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of The Week after going 4-4 with two runs and two RBIs in a 13-0 shut out win over Phoebus High School.

Lewis is a senior member of the Lakeland High School baseball team. The team is currently on a three-game winning streak, the longest of the year. The senior’s play has had a hand in helping the Cavs catch fire recently.

“Lately the team has started to come together more,” Lewis said. “In doing so, it has allowed us to win a few games here recently.”

Patterson and Assistant Commonwealth Attorney J. James spoke to the upper-class student body. Crocker Funeral Home, Chip’s Towing, The Suffolk Police Department and Suffolk Fire and Rescue assisted with the live car crash scene in the student parking lot.
