Congratulations to the Boy’s Indoor Track Team on capturing the 3A Regional Indoor Track Championship on Wed., Feb. 15, 2017 at Boo Williams. The top six places in each event qualify for the State Championships at Roanoake College next weekend.
Darren Daughtry won first place in the 55 meter hurdles (meet record) and sixth place in the long jump. Deondre Little also won first place in the 300 meters (meet record). Daughtrey and Little, along with Tyrik Rawlings and Tashawn Pierre, teamed up to win the 4 x 200 meter relay championship.
Also contributing were Garrett Whitley, who placed second in the shot put, and Alfonso “AJ” Randolph who was runner up in the high jump and placed fifth in the 55 meter hurdles. AJ, Teshun Pierre, Donell Blount, and Travis Copeland were runners up in the 4 x 400 meter relay. Teshun Pierre was a runner up in the long jump. The 4 x 800 meter relay team (Donnell Blount, Nate Edgehill, Diamonte Moore, and Travis Copeland) placed third.
On the girl’s side, Enecia Hopes and Loren Biggs both qualified for the state meet. Biggs finished third in the long jump with a personal best of 17 ft, 9.5 inches. She also finished 4th in the 55 meter dash.
