CavalierVirginia governor, Terry McAuliffe has proclaimed October 2017 as Virginia Bullying Prevention month in the Commonwealth. By joining together and wearing orangeon tomorrow, Oct. 25, which is declared as Unity day, we can send the unified message that we care about student’s physical and emotional health and that bullying will no longer be accepted in this society. So wear orange tomorrow, October 25! 

  • This year, scholarship information will be shared via google classroom. Please join the scholarship classroom by using code 13qqz. If you have any questions or concerns please see Mrs. Edwards in Guidance. 
  • Attention students: the Suffolk-Nansemond Historical Society is excited about the opportunity to offer high school students community service hours at our headquarters in downtown Suffolk.  We feel that this is a unique and educational way in which to acquire the hours needed for graduation. For more information, please see your school counselor. 
  • In honor of MSgt Curtis, the AFJROTC is hosting a Halloween themed Color Run to benefit the Buffalo Soldiers of which he was a part. The Color Run will be held Sat., Oct. 28 at 12:00 noon at Sleepy Hole Park. The cost of students is $15, all others are $20. Water and snacks will be provided. The run is open to the public, so tell your family and friends! Buy your ticket(s) in the ROTC room with Major Blake. Please come and show your support. 
  • Yearbooks for the 2017-2018 school year are on sale now until Christmas break for only $50. After Christmas break, the price will go up to $60. Seniors, from now until Thanksgiving break we will be running a special on senior ads for the yearbook; full page: $200, after Thanksgiving break the price will go up to $300. If you would like a senior ad in the yearbook please see Ms. Sapp in room 129. 
  • Anyone planning to play a winter sport must have a physical by Nov.2. All physicals must be turned in to Coach G. Rountree. You will not be able to try out without a physical. Current fall sports participants do not have to get a new physical. 
  • Junior class officers and representatives: there will be a class meeting on Thursday, Oct. 26 in room 110 after school. 
  • Marketing students: tomorrow, Oct.25 is the last day to sell key chains and lanyards. All money is due to Mrs. Noble or Mrs. Wiggins by tomorrow. Also, DECA dues are due by next Tuesday, Oct. 31. 
  • The Cavs Care Club will be having a meeting for current and prospective members today, Oct. 24. All members need to be in attendance. 
  • Female Juniors: if you are interested in playing in the senior vs junior powder puff football game please see Ms. Keys in room 110 to sign up. 
  • Meissel’s Government students are reminded to bring their governor’ race election packets to class today. 
  • The Ladies of Distinction will meet on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 3pmin room 232. Mrs. Riddick will be here!  
  • There will be boys’ tennis conditioning this Friday, Oct. 27 from 3:15 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the tennis courts. Make sure you have a ride home. Questions talk to Coach Jay in room 209. 
  • There will be no track practice today. Practice will resume on tomorrow, Oct. 25.
  • The ASVAB will be administered on Tuesday, November 21. You can sign up in the Library. 
  • WorkKeys tests will be administered at the Franklin Workforce Center on Thursday, October 26, 2017. See the LHS website for more information.
  • Interested in joining the swim team?  Conditioning is the week of October 30th-November 3rd and Tryouts will be on November 6th.  Practices are at Camp Arrowhead from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM Monday through Friday.  Please contact Coach Brant at 757-641-6388 for further information.
