Announcements – October 31, 2017

  • This year, scholarship information will be shared via google classroom. Please join the scholarship classroom by using code 13qqz. If you have any questions or concerns please see Mrs. Edwards in guidance. 
  • Applications for Governor’s School Summer Residential Academies are now being accepted. Please see guidance for more information and deadlines. 
  • The Suffolk-Nansemond Historical society is excited about the opportunity to offer high school students community service hours at our headquarters in downtown Suffolk.  We feel that this is a unique and educational way in which to acquire the hours needed for graduation. For more information, please see your school counselor. 
  • Yearbooks for the 2017-2018 school year are on sale now until Christmas break for only $50. After Christmas break, the price will go up to $60. Seniors, from now until thanksgiving break we will be running a special on senior ads for the yearbook; full page: $200, after Thanksgiving break the price will go up to $300. If you would like a senior ad in the yearbook please see Ms. Sapp in room 129. 
  • Anyone planning to play a winter sport must have a physical by Thursday, Nov.2. All physicals must be turned in to Coach G. Rountree. You will not be able to try out without a physical. Current fall sports participants do not have to get a new physical. 
  • Seniors please remember to pay your dues of $60 to Ms. Manning in the chorus room. On Feb. 1, dues will go up to $70, so pay them now! 
  • There will be FFA forestry judging practice today in room 154 from 3:15 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. Also, FFA members are asked to place their cards in the box outside of the agriculture shop before 2:00 p.m. today.
  • There will be no marching band rehearsal today!  Full marching band rehearsal will resume on tomorrow from 3:15pm until 7:00 p.m.  All band members are reminded to be on time!!!  
  • There will be a DECA meeting on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 3:15 p.m. in room 230. Please be on time! Also, DECA dues are due today, 31st. 
  • There will be boys’ tennis conditioning this Friday, Nov. 3rd from 3:15 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. make sure you have a ride home. Questions talk to Coach Jay in room 209. 
  • Make-up pictures will be taken on tomorrow, Nov. 1. Only those students who purchased picture packets will be allowed re-takes. In order to re-take, the pictures from the original packet must be returned at the time the second picture is taken. Teachers and students who did not have their picture taken on the original dates may have their picture taken on this date. 
  • Cheerleading tryouts will be held Monday, Nov. 6 through Nov. 8h from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the auditorium.
