Cavalier Congratulations to our Lakeland Lady Cavs tennis team for their stunning victory over the Kings Fork Lady Bulldogs last night and capturing the Suffolk City Wide Tennis Championship for 2022!

* Hotspots must be returned to the Technology department (JFKMS) at the end of the school year. They may not be turned in at the schools.

• Rising Seniors: Virginia Tech is hosting it's first summer business academy. If you are interested in majoring in business and are applying to VT in the fall you are encouraged to apply to this program. If you are interested please see your counselor. Deadline May 15, 2022

• Rising Juniors and Seniors: JMU is hosting a summer honors institute, July 10-16. Experience a week-long glimpse into college life from the majestic hills in Harrisonburg on the campus of James Madison University. You will live in the dorms, sample classes and engage with professors and current students. This is a great opportunity to see if this is the life for you. Application deadline is May 15th. Please go to James Madison's website to view eligibility requirements and the application.

• Then and Now Photos - Keep the then and now pictures of the coming Class of 2022! We love seeing them! A big shout out to Megan Goodman for motivating the class of 2022 to bring their pictures in. We appreciate you, Megan!

• Girls Volleyball conditioning will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Lakeland starting June 7th from 3:30 p.m. -6:00 p.m. It is open to any girls that are interested in playing for the high school next year.

• Seniors: Newport News Shipyard is hosting a hiring event Friday, May 13th here at Lakeland. They will conduct on-site interviews. They are offering signing bonuses of at least $1,000. If you would like to attend this hiring event, please see the email sent by Mrs. Williams.

• The next GSA, Gay Straight Alliance meeting is Thursday, May 12 at 3:15 in Room 223.

* Seniors: Do you want to meet employers who need people with your skill set? Do you want to gain confidence for future job interviews and sharpen your job interview skills? Then sign up to attend the 30th Annual Career Expo. You will have the opportunity to meet local employers and participate in mock interviews.

Permission slips are due Friday, May 13 and you can get one from your English or CTE teacher. The field trip is limited to the first 50 students, so don't miss your chance to participate. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Ellis in room 228.
