CavalierSENIORS - Reminder for those of you who have already applied to colleges or universities. Please make sure you are checking in with them to verify that everything has been received such as transcripts and test scores. Also, make sure Mrs. Williams or Mrs. Foster is receiving a copy of your acceptance letters as you receive them.

JUNIORS, - if you have not registered for an SAT in the Spring (test dates are March 9, May 4 or June 1) or and ACT (Feb. 9, April 13 or June 8), please register soon. Seats will fill up fast as it gets closer to test dates. Please return your fee waiver application & release forms to Mrs. Foster, or if you have any questions, please see Mrs. Foster ASAP!

Come celebrate your college acceptance with Mrs. Foster, ACCESS college foundation, and Shaggy from z104. Free t-shirt and lunch are included. The celebration will be at the ODU Ted Constant Center on Tues., April 30. Requirements: you must be accepted into at least one college/university, have completed your FAFSA and provide one financial aid award letter before the trip. Spots are limited. Please see Mrs. Foster for more details and a permission slip.

Two community service/internship opportunities:

Kid's College Camp - hosted by Paul D. Camp Community College. Begins June 17, for seven weeks. Participants may work as many as 35 hours/week and will earn community service hours. For more info, see your school counselor.

Hope for Suffolk - internship/community service opportunity held at Westminster Church on Godwin Blvd. Participants will earn money as well as community service hours This program begins in April and continues through October. Times will differ from school year to summer. For more info, see your school counselor.

JUNIORS & SENIORS - Not sure what you want do after graduation? Not sure where to go to college?! You are in luck! Come to Paul D. Camp's CTE Exploration Day! Hands-on fun and learning just for your - robotics, nursing, EMT, criminal justice and more! This event in on Friday, April 26. Free lunch provided. See Mrs. Foster for permission slip. Space is limited.

SENIORS - It is still not too late to buy a Senior Ad. If you would like to make your yearbook memorable, buy a senior ad. Forms for the ad can be picked up in Room 130 or in Room 111.

JUNIORS & SENIORS - The Career Expo will be held Thurs., April 11. Permission slips are available from English and CTE teachers and are due by April 5. Don't miss out on the opportunity to meet with real local business professionals and practice your interview skills. Participants will need to wear business attire and bring along copies of a resume.

SENIORS - Just a reminder - community service is a part of your graduation requirement. If you have not turned in your community service hours to Mrs. Williams, please do so by April 12.

Cavaliers - All of the students that interviewed for Boys' State 2019 from LHS were selected and were awesome representatives of the Cavaliers! Congratulations to Keon Wiggins-Saunders, Garret Williams, Laurence Braddell, Savion Hart & P. T. Meadors on their selection to the Virginia Boys' State 2019 Summer Program!

The Pink and Black Gala will be held on Saturday, April 27 at Gethsemane in Newport News at 5:00pm.

The LHS Marching Quiet Storm band will be conducting it's annual Spring Band mini Camp Mon., April 8 - Thurs. May 16. Spring band camp will be from 3:15 - 5:00pm. For more information, please see Mr. Wilson.

The American Sign Language play will be presented Thurs., April 4 and Fri., April 5, 6:00pm. If you want to enjoy songs and dancing, come watch "The Dress Rehearsal." Admission is $3.00. Come, have some fun dancing with us!

Trustworthiness and integrity are April's character development traits. Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. Please send names of students who exhibit either of these traits to the Library Media Center staff. Nominated students will receive a prize at the end of the month.

Upward Bound applications are available - please see your school counselor by Fri., April 5 for more information.

Congratulations to the Boys' Varsity Soccer team on their 4-2 win over IC Norcom! Etham Ahmes scored two goals and Ahmad Wilson and J'On Russell scored one goal each.

SENIORS - Jostens wil be here to distribute all paid cap & gowns on Fri., April 12 during all lunch shifts.
