CavalierThe Scholastic Bowl team will practice on Tues., Dec. 4, 2018 immediately following school in room 126. Practice will last one hour. Please plan to provide your own transportation or ride the 5:30 bus.

Visitors are coming, visitors are coming, visitors are coming...
Lakeland High School will participate in an Advanced Performance Accreditation Review on February 19, 2019. "The review process examines the whole institution - the programs, the culture context, the community of stakeholders - to determine how well the parts work together to meet the needs of students."
In preparation for the performance accreditation review, faculty & students will be asked to complete surveys via email in the coming weeks. The completed surveys will provide data needed for the review team visiting "The Home of the Cavaliers" in February. Additional information will be shared as preparations are underway.

Winter team pictures will be taken on Wed., Dec. 5, 2018, beginning at 3:30p.

SENIORS - Reminder for those of you who have already applied to colleges or universities. Please make sure you are checking in with them to verify that everything has been received such as transcripts and test scores. Also, make sure Mrs. Williams or Mrs. Foster is receiving a copy of your acceptance letters as you receive them.

Boys' Tennis Conditioning will be held Fri., Dec. 7 at the tennis courts after school until 5:00pm. Make sure you have a ride home. Questions, talk to Coach Jay in room 209.

Students - do you have a teacher that you would like to commend for outstanding performance? Positive teacher referrals will soon be available to fill out for your favorite teachers. They will be available for pick up in Guidance and the Main Office.

On Monday, December 3, we will be starting our spare change collection to feed one person for one meal for $2.08. Just think how many we can feed if you give. You can place your loose change in any classroom.

Congratulations to Mrs. Meissel for having the third highest attendance at the National Council for Social Studies Annual Conference - 4,271 attendees!!!

Students - there is a BYOD survey on the student portal for you to complete. The purpose of the survey is to get your input on the current "bring your own device" policy. We need your input. The survey will close on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.

December is a busy month in the LHS library. Come see the holiday tree made entirely from books. Check out the shipment of books that just arrived, full of sports themes, new series and Alex Rider novels, or join us for game of weekly themed bingo, and win prizes.

Come out and cheer on your Lakeland JROTC drill team this Saturday, December 8th at Great Bridge High School drill competition in Chesapeake, beginning at 9:00am. See any JROTC instructor or drill team member for more details.

LHS would like to take this opportunity to celebrate those students who were succesful in making the honor roll for the first marking period. We are proud of your dedication to your academics. Congratulations and continue to strive for academic excellence!
