CavalierSENIORS - Reminder for those of you who have already applied to colleges or universities. Please make sure you are checking in with them to verify that everything has been received such as transcripts and test scores. Also, make sure Mrs. Williams or Mrs. Foster is receiving a copy of your acceptance letters as you receive them.

JUNIORS, - if you have not registered for an SAT in the Spring (test dates are March 9, May 4 or June 1) or and ACT (Feb. 9, April 13 or June 8), please register soon. Seats will fill up fast as it gets closer to test dates. Please return your fee waiver application & release forms to Mrs. Foster, or if you have any questions, please see Mrs. Foster ASAP!

Off season football workouts will be held Mon. - Thurs., 4-6:30p for all new and returning players. Attendance is mandatory.

February's character development traits are honesty and fairness. Honest and fair students follow rules, they don't plagiarize their written work. They turn in found objects and they consider other people's point of view. Teachers, if you have a fair and honest student in class, please send that student's name to the library. They will be called down at the end of the month for a prize.

Senior Football players - your football banners are still available. They are only $40. Please see J'on Russell to purchase your banner or for more details.

Sophomores - The SPS Career and Technical Education Advisory Council will be sponsoring the Tenth Annual Non-Traditional Extravaganza on Thurs., Feb. 21 at the Hilton Garden Inn on the Suffolk Riverfront. Professional business attire is required (NO Jeans). Students will depart from school at aprox. 8:45a and return at 10:45a. Return your field trip form to your CTE or English teacher. The next GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) meeting will be held on Thurs., Feb. 21 @ 3:15 in Room 223.

Mandatory practices for girls' soccer will begin on Tues., Feb. 19, 3:30-5:30. There will be a parent information meeting on Wed., Feb. 20, 6:00pm. Please plan to attend as we plan for the upcoming season. Questions, please see Mrs. Foster.

Baseball try-outs begin on Tues., Feb. 19. Please be at the field by 3:30. You must have a current physical to try out.

Seniors - please order your cap & gown at jostens.com as soon as possible.

Girls' tennis try-outs will be held on Tues., Feb. 19, Wed., Feb. 20, Thurs., Feb. 21 and Fri., Feb. 22, 3:30-5:30p. All interested girl tennis players should be at the tennis courts on these days at the prescribed time. Come out and participate in the fun and exciting game of tennis while representing with your team spirit. let's go down to our old friend Moses Malone's home and get the "W" tonight. Go Cavs basketball!!!

Beginning on Mon., Feb. 4, we will be celebrating CTE month. Stop by Room 152 to answer the Technology question of the week to enter the drawing for a prize from Mrs. Parker!

February is Career and Technical Education month. Career and Technical education, also known as CTE, provides students of all ages with the academic and technical skills, knowledge, and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners. For the rest of the month, we will be profiling various career clusters and career pathways that are available.

Today's CTE career cluster is Business Management and Administration. This cluster focuses on managing or operating businesses, making decisions that benefit the business and keeping everything in order and running smoothly There are about 773,800 people in Virginia in this field. Possible careers include business analysts, insurance underwriters, operations managers and human resource managers.

The Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. announces that their 2019 Scholarship Applications are now available in the Guidance department. Completed applications are due on or before March 22, 2019. For more information contact, Mrs. Milan (room 120) or Mrs. Phillips (room 219).

Mrs. Stuprich-Brown will be holding writing remediation in room 107 after school on Thurs., Feb. 21, 3:00-4:30. Anyone needing writing remediation may attend. The topic will be introductions and conclusions.
