CavalierSENIORS - Reminder for those of you who have already applied to colleges or universities. Please make sure you are checking in with them to verify that everything has been received such as transcripts and test scores. Also, make sure Mrs. Williams or Mrs. Foster is receiving a copy of your acceptance letters as you receive them.

JUNIORS, - if you have not registered for an SAT in the Spring (test dates are March 9, May 4 or June 1) or and ACT (Feb. 9, April 13 or June 8), please register soon. Seats will fill up fast as it gets closer to test dates. Please return your fee waiver application & release forms to Mrs. Foster, or if you have any questions, please see Mrs. Foster ASAP!

Seniors - please order your cap & gown at as soon as possible.

Come celebrate your college acceptance with Mrs. Foster, ACCESS college foundation, and Shaggy from z104. Free t-shirt and lunch are included. The celebration will be at the ODU Ted Constant Center on Tues., April 30. Requirements: you must be accepted into at least one college/university, have completed your FAFSA and provide one financial aid award letter before the trip. Spots are limited. Please see Mrs. Foster for more details and a permission slip.

The registration form for AP exams has been posted in the banner section of the web page. This must be submitted to the Testing Office by March 28, 2019.

The Character Development trait for March is DILIGENCE. A diligent student keeps an agenda or planner, starts early on school projects, overcomes distractions and focuses on their work at hand.

Keon Wiggins-Saunders has been nominated for exhibiting diligence during the month of March. Keon works hard in class and always takes great care when completing his work. He asks questions in class to ensure he reaches all the expectations of an assignment. Keon is consistent in completing his work, and completing at a level that is above average in quality and content. Keon is committed to excellence and his behavior exhibits his goals.

Any CAPS student planning to attend the field trip to Norfolk State University on Sat., March 30, please stop by Mrs. Milan or Mrs. Phillips classroom for more information.

Two community service/internship opportunities:

Kid's College Camp - hosted by Paul D. Camp Community College. Begins June 17, for seven weeks. Participants may work as many as 35 hours/week and will earn community service hours. For more info, see your school counselor.

Hope for Suffolk - internship/community service opportunity held at Westminster Church on Godwin Blvd. Participants will earn money as well as community service hours This program begins in April and continues through October. Times will differ from school year to summer. For more info, see your school counselor.

JUNIORS & SENIORS - Not sure what you want do after graduation? Not sure where to go to college?! You are in luck! Come to Paul D. Camp's CTE Exploration Day! Hands-on fun and learning just for your - robotics, nursing, EMT, criminal justice and more! This event in on Friday, April 26. Free lunch provided. See Mrs. Foster for permission slip. Space is limited.

SENIORS - Remember, Lifetouch is coming to Lakeland to shoot Cap & Gown pics Thursday & Friday, March 28 & 29. Students who signed up will receive passes in English classes. Don't forget to bring $25 for your sitting fee.

There will be a DECA meeting on Thurs., March 28 at 3:00 pm in Room 230.

SENIORS - Do you have a GPA of 2.5 or higher? Do yo wish you could just do one scholarship application that will get you into multiple scholarships at once? The ACCESS scholarship is now available. This application will qualify you for at least five or more scholarships with just one application! No essay required. Applications are available online at under the scholarship tab or if you don't have your paper application yet, see Mrs. Foster. First deadline is March 29. Multiple winners are selected. Permission slips are due by April 1 to ensure plenty of time for t-shirt orders.

SENIORS - It is still not too late to buy a Senior Ad. If you would like to make your yearbook memorable, buy a senior ad. Forms for the ad can be picked up in Room 130 or in Room 111.

JUNIORS & SENIORS - The Career Expo will be held Thurs., April 11. Permission slips are available from English and CTE teachers and are due by April 5. Don't miss out on the opportunity to meet with real local business professionals and practice your interview skills. Participants will need to wear business attire and bring along copies of a resume.

Students enrolled in AP classes who plan to take AP exams are reminded that registration forms and payments are due to the Testing Office on or before March 28. Students who have received financial assistance or receive free/reduced lunch must still turn in a registration form. The request for financial assistance is not the registration form. Any questions, please see Ms. L. Johnson in the Testing Office.

There will be a BIOSTEM meeting on Thurs., March 28 in Room 215. If you want to learn how to use a 3D printer, you should come!

Congratulations to the Cavalier Varsity Softball team on their win over Hopewell 12-2 yesterday!

SENIORS - Just a reminder - community service is a part of your graduation requirement. If you have not turned in your community service hours to Mrs. Williams, please do so by April 12.

SENIORS - The first deadline for the ACCESS scholarship is Fri., March 29. Please turn in all scholarship applications to Mrs. Foster.
