cavalier logoJuniors and Seniors: prom tickets are on sale in room 218 by Ms. Jacobs. Tickets are $60 each. In order to get your ticket each person must have a contract for conduct and dress code signed. Ladies please get your dress approved by Ms. Jacobs if you are unsure. In order to go to the prom, all junior and senior dues must be paid.

• Seniors are reminded to turn in all financial aid award letters to Mrs. Williams or Mrs. Foster in guidance.

• Seniors: please pay your senior dues of $70 to Ms. Manning in the chorus room. You cannot participate in senior activities or buy a ticket to the prom until you do so.

• Beginning Monday, April 16th through Thursday, May 17th, the Lakeland marching “quiet storm” band will be conducting its annual spring band mini camp 2018. The time of spring band mini camp will be from 3:25 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. please come out and be a part of this year’s Lakeland marching “quiet storm” band. For more information please see Mr. Wilson. • Juniors: looking for a way to complete your community service hours... Riverside Regional Medical Center's volunteer program application is available online. Application deadline is May 1st. Please visit your school counselor for more information.

• Students: are you looking for an exciting and educational opportunity this summer? Several colleges and universities are offering summer experiences, James Madison Univ., William and Mary, Harvard Univ., Adelphi Univ. and Prince William Sound College. Please view the posters on the guidance hall for more information.

• Students: Suffolk Parks & Rec has announced their 2018 summer counselor-in-training (cit) program has begun to accept applications. This is a great way to earn community service hours and perform fun an excited activities with our elementary school students. Students from ages 14-18 can apply. If you are interested in applying please see your school counselor.

• Seniors: the NUCOR Corporation has an exciting opportunity for those who may be thinking about a career as an electrician. Nucor Technical academy will begin a new session for electricians in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Tuition is free for students with a 3.0gpa, great benefits and NUCOR will help you move to Tuscaloosa. If you are interested please see Mrs. Williams in guidance.


* Sports physicals for the 2018-19 school year will be on Thursday, May 31, 2018, 5:00 at Lakeland HS. The cost is $15.00.

*May is national Get Caught Reading month. Snap a photo of a student or teacher reading and post it on Instagram with the hashtag "lhsgetcaughtreading." tag the classroom teacher's name in the photo. The class with the most posts gets a popcorn party, courtesy of the library media center staff.

• Ms. Badran's class in the the lead, with Ms. Reid's class in second and Mrs. Brown's class in third, Mrs. McDonald's and Mr. Nelson's classes tied for fourth place in the "Get Caught Reading" contest. Join the fun for a chance to win a popcorn party, courtesy of the library media center staff.

• All college-bound honor graduates please see Mrs. Edwards in guidance.

• If you ordered a yearbook, they will arrive May 24th. If you still haven’t ordered a yearbook, you still have time but there are very limited quantities. You may bring $70 cash or check to room 129, or order online at www.yearbookforever.com don’t miss out!

* Anyone interested in playing football next school year should sign-up on the sheets located on the gym doors. Please sign up during your lunch shifts.

• Seniors - anything that you have checked out from the library is due NOW. In addition, any fines that you owe should be paid as soon as possible, prior to you leaving the building on may 31st or sooner if you are leaving prior to that date.

• The student vs faculty game is one week away! Do not miss out on your ticket for the show. DJ'ing the event will be Shanedollar. Get your tickets today during lunch for just $3. See you there!

• Attention Ladies of Distinction: please come by Ms. Reese office for your permission slips for your end of the year dinner and meeting. The permission slips are in my mailbox, please take one!

• Summer school information is now available. Please see your school counselor for more information.

• The NHS meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 17th at 3:15 p.m.

• Attention students: help us promote “Clean the Bay Day.” Clean the bay day 2018 starting June 2nd from 9am to 12:00 noon. You can volunteer by foot or by boat, individuals, families, civic organizations, business groups, scouts, and students! Boaters – bring your kayaks, canoes, or any shallow water boat. Please register for this cleanup to help us coordinate:
