CavalierFemale students interested in participating in the Ladies of Distinction should see Ms. Snead in Room 232 for an application.

The Scholastic Bowl team will practice on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 immediately following school in room 126. Practice will last one hour. Please plan to provide your own transportation or ride the 5:30 bus.

American Sign Language is looking for new members. If you enjoy Christmas music, come learn it in sign. You do not need to be taking American Sign Language classes. Come join us! For more information, come see Mrs. Fisher in room 103.

Students interested in the Art Club may sign up on the Art room door. You do not have to be a current Art student to be in this club. Please see Mrs. White if you have any questions.

Female students interested in computer science as a career, please see Ms. Bowers in Guidance for a prestigious award opportunity. Serious female students only!

Applications for the Governor's School Summer 2019 Residential Academies are now available. Please see Mrs. Bowers in Guidance for more information and deadlines.

The READBOX is back in the library! Books that have been recently made into movies or Netflix series are featured in the READBOX in the Library Media Center. Students who check out one of these books get a free bag of popcorn. Yes... free popcorn, to take with them.

October is Disability Awareness Month. Cerebral palsy is associated with movement, muscle tone, and posture. Cerebral refers to the brain and palsy means weakness or lace of muscle birth, caused by a reduced blood supply and lack of oxygen to the brain. Please with cerebral palsy may experience epilepsy, and may have difficulty with awareness and comprehension.

Wrestlers - pre-season workouts began on Mon., Oct. 8. Turn in physicals to Coach Rountree and see Coach Hoffman in Room 200 with any questions.

Boys' Tennis conditioning will be held this Fri, Oct. 19 after school at the tennis courts from 3:15 - 5:00. Make sure you have a ride home at 5:00, no late bus. Questions, talk to Coach Jay in Room 209.

Remediation for the upcoming October 22 Writing SOL has begun. Remediation will be held blocks 2, 4 and 7 in room 114 today, Oct. 11.

Students - if you are enrolled in a dual enrollment course and have not paid your dual enrollment fee, please do so no later than Fri., October 26. If your fee has not been paid by this date, you will be withdrawn from the course.

The Character Development team has chosen to recognize the character train of respect for the month of October. To respect someone is to admire them deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or achievements. During the month of October, teachers will nominate students who exhibit respect. These students' names will be put in a drawing for prizes at the end of the month. Nominees will also have their names displayed on a banner in the hallway adjacent to the cafeteria.

This week is Teen Read Week. To celebrate, the LHS Library is featuring Sci-Fi books and Sci-Fi trivia questions during lunches. Those students who can answer at least 60% of the trivia questions, get their name in a drawing for a Chick-Fil-A sandwich.

All Softball girls interested in playing in next Wednesday's scrimmage at Wilson need to see Coach Wood to commit. Another scrimmage against Western Branch is planned for the following week. See him now to get in the line-up.

Pioneer Elementary School's PTA is holding it's annual Fall Fest on Fri., Oct. 26 from 6-9p. We are in need of some high school volunteers to help run the stations. If you like to volunteer for this event, please see your school counselor for more details.

There will be an interest meeting for the LHS Step Team on Thurs., Oct. 18 in the Chorus Room. If you have any questions, see Ms. Manning.

Any young lady interested in playing girls' basketball, please sign up on the sheet on the gym door.
