CavalierThe Scholastic Bowl team will practice on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 immediately following school in room 126. Practice will last one hour. Please plan to provide your own transportation or ride the 5:30 bus.

Applications for the Governor's School Summer 2019 Residential Academies are now available. Please see Mrs. Bowers in Guidance for more information and deadlines.

The READBOX is back in the library! Books that have been recently made into movies or Netflix series are featured in the READBOX in the Library Media Center. Students who check out one of these books get a free bag of popcorn. Yes... free popcorn, to take with them.

October is Disability Awareness Month. Cerebral palsy is associated with movement, muscle tone, and posture. Cerebral refers to the brain and palsy means weakness or lace of muscle birth, caused by a reduced blood supply and lack of oxygen to the brain. Please with cerebral palsy may experience epilepsy, and may have difficulty with awareness and comprehension.

Boys' Tennis conditioning will be held this Fri, Oct. 26 after school at the tennis courts from 3:15 - 5:00. Make sure you have a ride home at 5:00, no late bus. Questions, talk to Coach Jay in Room 209.

Students - if you are enrolled in a dual enrollment course and have not paid your dual enrollment fee, please do so no later than Fri., October 26. If your fee has not been paid by this date, you will be withdrawn from the course.

The Character Development team has chosen to recognize the character train of respect for the month of October. To respect someone is to admire them deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or achievements. During the month of October, teachers will nominate students who exhibit respect. These students' names will be put in a drawing for prizes at the end of the month. Nominees will also have their names displayed on a banner in the hallway adjacent to the cafeteria.

Pioneer Elementary School's PTA is holding it's annual Fall Fest on Fri., Oct. 26 from 6-9p. We are in need of some high school volunteers to help run the stations. If you like to volunteer for this event, please see your school counselor for more details.

If you are interested in joining Lakeland High School's basketball teams, for girls or boys, please come out to our interest meeting on Tues., Oct. 30 @ 2:15-3:00p. Any young lady interested in playing girls' basketball, please sign up on the sheet on the gym door.

Virginia Commonwealth University will be here during all lunch shifts on Thurs., Oct. 25.. Please stop by and get infomration on this University.

Anyone interested in trying out for the school step team should have a current physical and permission form on file before the start of try-outs on Oct. 29. Please see Ms. Manning if you have any questions.

If you requested specific library books this Fall, shipments are coming into the Library Media Center. Tupac's Poetry Book, Naruto Graphic Novels, sports books, books on the military branches and the Fantistic Beasts Guide are just a few that have arrived. Come by the library and check them out.

There will be a Biostem meeting this Thurs., Oct. 25 in Mrs. McDonald's room. We will be practicing coding.

Potential Rho Kappa inductees: - the final date for turning in your application has been extended until Fri., Oct. 26. Please see Mrs. Meissel if you have any questions.

The United Way donation table will not be available on Thurs., Oct. 25 due to the fact that Mrs. Wiggins is involved in testing. We will resume the donation drive on Fri., Oct. 26.

Ms. Edsall's blocks 6 & 7 should report to the Library today, Oct. 25.

English 10 students: signed permission skips to attend the annual CCAP tour are due to your English teacher or Guidance by Thurs., Nov. 1, 2018.

Indoor track conditioning has been cancelled for Thurs., Oct. 25, 2018.
