CavalierStudents seeking information to take the WorkKeys test should NOT contact Paul D. Camp Community college. If you are seeking WorkKeys information, please see Ms. L. Johnson in the testing office or Ms. Spruill in Guidance.

Female students interested in participating in the Ladies of Distinction should see Ms. Snead in Room 232 for an application.

The Scholastic Bowl team will practice on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 immediately following school in room 126. Practice will last one hour. Please plan to provide your own transportation or ride the 5:30 bus.

American Sign Language is looking for new members. If you enjoy Christmas music, come learn it in sign. You do not need to be taking American Sign Language classes. Come join us! For more information, come see Mrs. Fisher in room 103.

Students interested in the Art Club may sign up on the Art room door. You do not have to be a current Art student to be in this club. Please see Mrs. White if you have any questions.

Female students interested in computer science as a career, please see Ms. Bowers in Guidance for a prestigious award opportunity. Serious female students only!

If you plan to play softball in the Spring and are not playing a fall sport, please come by and see Coach Wood in Room 127. Fall skills practice will begin next week, and you need to be at practice to better your skills.

The Governor's School for the Arts is pleased to host a college fair on Sat., Oct. 13, 2018. This is for all the fine arts (visual and performing). This is an amazing opportunity to look at art schools from across the east coast of the United States. Think of your future, here yo can learn how to plan for your art school path after Lakeland. Please see Mrs. White if you have any questions...

The READBOX is back in the library! Books that have been recently made into movies or Netflix series are featured in the READBOX in the Library Media Center. Students who check out one of these books get a free bag of popcorn. Yes... free popcorn, to take with them.

There will be a meeting for all current NHS members on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 3:30p in room 128. Any questions, please see Mrs. Madden in room 128.

October is Disability Awareness Month. Cerebral palsy is associated with movement, muscle tone, and posture. Cerebral refers to the brain and palsy means weakness or lace of muscle birth, caused by a reduced blood supply and lack of oxygen to the brain. Please with cerebral palsy may experience epilepsy, and may have difficulty with awareness and comprehension.

Wrestlers - pre-season workouts will begin on Mon., Oct. 8. Turn in physicals to Coach Rountree and see Coach Hoffman in Room 200 with any questions.

Boys' Tennis conditioning will be held this Fri, Oct. 12 after school at the tennis courts from 3:15 - 5:00. Make sure you have a ride home at 5:00, no late bus. Questions, talk to Coach Jay in Room 209.

Remediation for the upcoming October 22 Writing SOL begins on Fri., Oct. 5. All remediation takes place in Room 114. Remediation will be held blocks 2, 4, 6 and 7.

Students enrolled n Dual Enrollment Government, see Mrs. Meissel in room 134 ASAP.

Students - if you are enrolled in a dual enrollment course and have not paid your dual enrollment fee, please do so no later than Fri., October 26. If your fee has not been paid by this date, you will be withdrawn from the course.

The Character Development team has chosen to recognize the character train of respect for the month of October. To respect someone is to admire them deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or achievements. During the month of October, teachers will nominate students who exhibit respect. These students' names will be put in a drawing for prizes at the end of the month. Nominees will also have their names displayed on a banner in the hallway adjacent to the cafeteria.

There will be an informational meeting for students interested in being a part of the Lakeland HS Step team on Thurs., Oct. 11 after school in Room 184. Please see Ms. Manning regarding questions.
