Cavalier L* Congratulations to the boys and girls track teams as they competed in the 3A State Championships this past weekend at Liberty University. The top eight finishers in each event were named to the All-State team.

Guys named to the All-State team were: Justin Royes - 3rd in shot put with a throw of 49'11", Jakobe Little in shot put and the 4x800 m relay team, Demarion Artis placed 5th and Anthony Stewart placed 6th in the 300 m hurdles. Stewart also placed 6th in the 110 m hurdles.

Top eight finishers for the girls' team were: Kamryn Monroe, who placed 5th in the 100m dash, Jamauri Demiel, who placed 7th in the 400 m dash, and Kimari Rountree placed 3rd in the 300 m hurdles. Kamryn Monroe, Kimari Rountree, Jamauri Demiel and Brianna Goodman won the State Championship in the 4x400 m relay!

• Students: Virginia Tech is hosting its Pathways for Future Engineers program this summer for rising 10-12 grade students, July 17th - 30th. This is a two week on campus program for first generation students. If your parents have never received a bachelor’s degree, you are first generation. This will be free of charge for any student selected. If you are interested, please see your counselor.

• Senior Chromebooks, library books, textbooks and any other equipment/uniforms should be turned in by 3:00pm on Thursday, June 9 unless they are needed for Summer School. We will begin collection on Tuesday, May 31th. Chromebooks should be returned to the library and MUST HAVE POWER to turn on and should not be dropped off at the front office. Chargers should be returned with the Chromebook. Otherwise, there is a $25 fee for a lost charger.

• Hotspots must be returned to the Technology department (JFKMS) at the end of the school year. They may not be turned in at the schools.

• William & Mary is hosting a Pre-College Summer Program entitled Leadership by Design. This is for rising 11th & 12th grade students. It is a 5 night residential program. This innovative institute will expose participants to some of William & Mary’s most distinguished William & Mary alumni across education, public policy, and nonprofits. They are offering scholarships and financial aid for students who demonstrate financial need. If interested, please see your counselor.

• Any students who are interested in playing Boys’ volleyball need to put their names on the sign-up sheet located on the front of the gym doors. Boys’ volleyball conditioning practice will begin on June 6th at 3:00 p.m.

• Girls Volleyball conditioning will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Lakeland starting June 7th from 3:30 p.m. -6:00 p.m. It is open to any girls that are interested in playing for the high school next year.

Any students who are interested in playing Boys’ volleyball need to put their

volleyball conditioning practice will begin on Monday, June 6 th at 3:00 p.m.
