VA SOL2020-2021 Spring SOL testing FAQ

1. Does my student have to test in school for their End of Course SOLs?
● Yes, students will only be allowed to take their SOLs in school.

2. What happens if my student does not test during the spring?
● If your student does not test during the spring, your student will still be required to meet their graduation requirements during a later test administration.

3. How are students going to test during CoVid 19?
● We will follow CDC guidelines. Students must wear their mask while in the building and remain 6 feet apart while in the building.

4. What are the test dates for testing?
● English Reading/Earth Science --May 14
● Biology/Chemistry --May 21
● History--May 28
● Math-- June 4

Makeups testing:
June 11, June 14-June17

5. Will my student be required to stay at school when they are done testing?
● No, we are testing on Friday’s which is an asynchronous day. Students will be allowed to leave when they are done. A bus will pick up students who ride the bus at 11:30 a.m. and another at 3 p.m. Students who are driving or being picked up, must leave the premises once testing is complete.

6. What does my student need for testing?
● A fully charged Chromebook
● Wear a mask
● Water bottle

7. Why does my student have to take another Math or Science SOL if they passed in middle school?
● To meet high school Federal ESSA requirements for Math and Science.
Students must have Eng R, Alg I or higher, and Bio in high school as a part of their SOL assessments.
